Terms of service

Last updated: 20 September 2026

These terms apply to every order placed through themenagerist.co.uk (the "site"). The site is operated by DecalsLab Ltd, trading as The Menagerist, Unit C, Chalmers Way, Gillingham ME8 6PF, United Kingdom (company number 11502831, VAT registration GB 451 8208 02). "We", "us" and "our" mean DecalsLab Ltd. "You" means the person placing the order. Please read these terms before you buy; by placing an order you agree to them. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

1. What we sell

We sell 3D-printed collectable figures made to order in our workshop in Kent. Each piece is printed for you from a design we hold a commercial licence for, in the colours you choose on the product page.

Collector's items, not toys. Our pieces are display collectables for ages 14 and over. They are not tested or certified as toys, contain small and thin parts, and are not suitable for children under 14. Articulated pieces should be posed gently; forcing a joint can break it.

2. How 3D-printed pieces differ from mass-produced products

Every piece is built up layer by layer from PLA plastic on a desktop 3D printer. Fine layer lines, small marks where the piece touched the print bed or where supports were removed, and slight surface variation are part of how these pieces are made and are not defects. Colour position on rainbow, starry and glow filaments changes along the spool, so the pattern on your piece will differ from the photos. No two prints are identical. Dimensions shown on the site are the design's dimensions at the stated size; the finished print may differ by a few millimetres.

3. Placing an order

When you place an order we send an acknowledgement email. A contract is formed when we send you a dispatch confirmation. We may decline or cancel an order before dispatch if a product is unavailable, if there is an obvious pricing or description error, if we cannot verify your payment, or if a design licence lapses; in that case we refund you in full.

Colour choices are recorded on your order exactly as you selected them. Please check them before you pay: once printing has started, colour changes are not possible.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT at the UK standard rate (our VAT number is GB 451 8208 02). Delivery is charged in addition and shown at checkout before you pay. Payment is taken when you place the order through Shopify's secure checkout; we never see your full card details.

5. Made to order, production time and delivery

Most pieces are printed after you order. Each product page shows its production time (normally 3–5 working days, longer for large or complex pieces). Delivery times and costs are set out in our Shipping Policy. We deliver within the United Kingdom only.

6. Cancelling and returning an order

Your rights depend on whether the piece was made to your specification. Full details, including how to return a faulty item, are in our Returns & Refunds Policy. In summary:

  • Before printing starts you can cancel any order for a full refund — email us as soon as possible.
  • Pieces made in colours you chose are made to your specification. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 the 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to goods made to the consumer's specification or clearly personalised, so once printing has started these pieces cannot be returned for a change of mind.
  • Faulty, damaged or misdescribed pieces are covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 whatever colours you chose. We will repair, replace or refund.

7. Designs, licences and intellectual property

The figures we sell are designed by independent 3D artists and printed by us under commercial licences from those designers. Each product page names the designer. We do not sell, share or supply digital model files, and buying a printed piece gives you no rights in the underlying design. The Menagerist name, crest, photographs and site content belong to DecalsLab Ltd and may not be reused without permission.

8. Care and use

PLA softens above about 50 °C. Keep pieces away from radiators, sunny windowsills, dishwashers and hot cars. Dust with a soft, dry brush; do not wash or soak. We are not responsible for damage caused by heat, water, misuse or modification.

9. Our liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for business losses, or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any matter that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

10. Events outside our control

If a delivery is delayed by an event outside our reasonable control (for example a carrier strike, severe weather or a supply failure), we will contact you as soon as possible and take reasonable steps to minimise the delay. If the delay is substantial you may cancel and receive a full refund for any piece not yet dispatched.

11. Complaints and disputes

If something is wrong, please email info@themenagerist.co.uk and we will do our best to put it right. If we cannot resolve a dispute, you can seek free advice from Citizens Advice (citizensadvice.org.uk). These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction (if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts).

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when you place an order applies to that order.
